Abstract

Neoidiotypa Osten-Sacken, 1878 is a rare genus of Richardiidae distinguished by its relatively large body size, wasp-like appearance, and several diagnostic morphological characters. Six valid species of Neoidiotypa are known, occurring in Central America. In this study, we describe and illustrate a new species of the genus, Neoidiotypa peruana sp. n., representing the first record of Neoidiotypa from South America. We also present an updated identification key for the genus, as proposed by Wendt and Ale-Rocha (2014) and provide a revised distribution map of all known species.
