Abstract

We explore the evolutionary arms race between the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans and two fungal predators: the adhesive-trapper Arthrobotrys oligospora and the toxin-producer Pleurotus ostreatus . By dissecting the molecular mechanisms of fungal trapping and paralysis alongside nematode defensive strategies, these genetically tractable models provide deep insights into predator-prey co-evolution and illuminate the potential for fungal-based biocontrol of parasitic nematodes.
