Interactive seismic hazard map of the Czech Republic

Abstract
A new seismic hazard map for the Czech Republic has been calculated using a probabilistic approach. Detailed and carefully verified catalogue of seismic events was compiled. The model of seismic sources contains also local active faults and active fault areas that are not present in European seismic hazard models, but significantly increase the seismic hazard in their surroundings. Peak ground acceleration (PGA) and spectral acceleration (SA) curves have been calculated on a 5 × 5 km grid. To obtain values and curves for specific locality, they are interpolated from the nearest grid points. The model accounts for various local site conditions. The terrain slope is correlated with $$v_{\mathrm{S}\,30}$$ and used as a proxy for site amplification. The results have been released in the form of an interactive online map. The mapping application enables to toggle different map layers, including the seismic catalogue, source models, calculated seismic hazard, and several topographic background layers. A seismic hazard report can be generated for any chosen location.
