Food conversion efficiency and growth of juvenile turbot Scophthalmus maximus , reared under temperatures of 14, 18 and 22° C, were found to be higher in one experiment (7–70 g fish) in a higher latitude (Norway) strain than lower latitude (France and Scotland) strains. In a second study (20–150 g fish), food intake, food conversion efficiency and growth were higher in higher latitude (Iceland and Norway) compared with a lower latitude (France) strain.
