Through the isotopic composition of 211 samples of six different tissues (muscle, liver, heart, kidney, spleen, and lung) obtained from 51 Tursiops truncatus strandings over nearly a decade (2013–2022), this study evaluated the impact of environmental variations on a resident population in a coastal lagoon in the southern Gulf of Mexico. Isotopic data were corrected for lipid content and the Suess effect prior to analysis. Iso...

Soil microbiomes are critical for ecosystem functioning, yet the global influences of climate and agricultural practices on their diversity and structure remain incompletely characterized. Here we analyzed 1921 soil samples from 33 countries worldwide across diverse biomes to assess how climate gradients and agricultural inputs, including pesticides and fertilizers, shape prokaryotic and fungal communities. We found that micro...

Distributed optical fibre sensing (DOFS) is a technology that enables continuous, real-time measurements of a range of environmental parameters along the length of a fibre optic cable. In this article, we review the recently emerged applications of DOFS techniques in physical oceanography and offer a perspective on the technology's potential for future growth within the field. The introduction of DOFS to physical oceanography...

The present study investigates the pyrolysis kinetics of raw (undigested) sewage sludge and evaluates the effect of three low-cost catalysts (CaO, MgO, and Al 2 O 3 ). The activation energies (Ea) were determined by means of the Flynn–Wall–Ozawa method. The raw sludge displayed a three-phase Ea profile, which suggests sequential decomposition of heterogeneous biopolymers. Among the catalysts, CaO exhibited the most significant...

Oil spills represent a severe threat to aquatic ecosystems, requiring rapid and reliable detection methods to support environmental response. Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) offers high spectral resolution for distinguishing hydrocarbon types, but its effective use depends on the performance and robustness of deep learning (DL) models, especially under data-limited conditions. This study presents a systematic evaluation of convolu...
