The functional and molecular definition of progenitors giving rise to blood vessel endothelium in vivo remains disputed. Upon investigating the overlap of seemingly divergent reports currently defining putative endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) using single-cell RNA-sequencing and flow cytometry, Protein C Receptor (PROCR) and Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Alpha (PDGFRA) largely overlapped with previously character...

Quantifying how global change impacts wild populations remains challenging, especially for species poorly represented by systematic datasets. Here, we infer climate change effects on masting by Joshua trees ( Yucca brevifolia and Y. jaegeriana ), keystone perennials of the Mojave Desert, from 15 years of crowdsourced observations. We annotated phenophase in 10,212 geo‐referenced images of Joshua trees on the iNaturalist crowds...

The field of oceanography is transitioning from data-poor to data-rich, thanks in part to increased deployment of in-situ platforms and sensors, such as those that instrument the US-funded Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI). However, generating science-ready data products from these sensors, particularly those making biogeochemical measurements, often requires extensive end-user calibration and validation procedures, which c...

Madagascar is a biodiversity hotspot that is facing rapid rates of deforestation, habitat destruction, and poverty. Urgent action is required to document the status of biodiversity to facilitate efficacious conservation plans. With the recent advent of portable and affordable genetic technologies, it is now possible to take genomic approaches out of the lab and into the field. Mobile genetics labs can produce scientifically re...

Multisensory processes include the capacity to combine information from the different senses, often improving stimulus representations and behavior. The extent to which multisensory processes are an innate capacity or instead require experience with environmental stimuli remains debated. We addressed this knowledge gap by studying multisensory processes in prematurely born and full-term infants. We recorded 128-channel event-r...

The placement of Exodontiella Wharton is re‐examined in light of the discovery of four additional individuals. Genomic DNA was extracted from one of the individuals, the D2 expansion segment of the 28S rRNA gene was sequenced, and the sequence compared to selected taxa within the Braconidae. Based on the molecular data and the morphological study, Exodontiella is formally transferred from the Opiinae to the Gnamptodontinae. Th...
