Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a major public health issue worldwide. It not only causes an increased socio-economic burden, but also negatively affects personal lives. It has been shown that depression leads to impairments in synaptic plasticity, such as impaired long-term potentiation (LTP) in the prefrontal cortex (PFC). A recent study reported that administration of agomelatine, a melatonin receptor agonist and 5-hydro...

Mosquito‐borne diseases affect millions and cause numerous deaths annually. Effective vector control, which hinges on understanding their dispersal, is vital for reducing infection rates. Given the variability in study results, likely due to environmental and human factors, gathering local dispersal data is critical for targeted disease control. To analyse the spread and differentiation of Aedes aegypti in southern Taiwan, we...

The regional sea level budget and interannual sea level changes around Taiwan and Philippines are studied using altimetry, GRACE, and in-situ hydrographic data during 1993‒2021. Results show that the average sea level trend around Taiwan and Philippines during 1993–2021 derived from the altimetric data is 3.6 ± 0.2 mm/yr. Over 2002–2021, the study shows closure of sea level budget in the eastern ocean of Taiwan and Philippines...

(1) Background: Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) is a flowering plant reported to have anti-obesity, antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory effects. This study aims to evaluate the UV-absorbing and antioxidant activities of roselle aqueous extracts (RAE) and test the protective effects of RAE against UV radiation in zebrafish embryos. (2) Methods: DPPH assay and UV-spectrum methods were applied to evaluate the antioxid...
