Sciaenid fishes are usually associated with large freshwater inputs and are the most important economic fish on the coastal shelf off mainland China. To compare the differences in ecological niche and resource sharing among different populations of Sciaenidae species, we collected samples of Larimichthys polyactis , Collichthys lucidus , Johnius belangerii , Nibea albiflora , and Miichthys miiuy from Zhoushan Archipelago water...
Large eddy simulation (combined with the mixture model) and laboratory experiment were used to investigate the impact of emergent and rigid vegetation on the dynamics of downslope gravity currents in stratified environments. The reliability of the numerical model was assessed with the corresponding laboratory measurements. The results show that the vegetation cylinders lead to severe lateral non-uniformity of the current front...
Using the 13 m diameter LEGI-Coriolis rotating platform, the evolution processes of a generated anticyclonic eddy throughout its lifecycle are analyzed. Experimental results have shown that the eddy lasted for approximately 3 T 0 , where T 0 is the rotating period of 90 s. After T = 0.3 T 0 , the eddy enters its mature phase, whereby following this event, eddy intensity slowly decreases from its maximum rotation speed. By T =...
