Laboratory tank experiments indicated that turbidity levels up to 160 Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU) did not reduce the feeding rates of adult smelt ( Retropinna retropinna Richardson), or inanga (Galaxias maculatus Jenyns), on Daphnia sp.
