Four large, open‐ocean diatoms from the Southern Ocean ( Actinocyclus sp., Thalassiosira sp., Fragilariopsis kerguelensis , and Corethron pennatum ) were grown in natural (low iron) Southern ocean seawater with increasing Fe concentrations.
