A revision of Polystachyinae (Orchidaceae) in Madagascar, the Mascarenes, Seychelles and Comoro IslandsNARA Subscribed
Summary The subtribe Polystachyinae Schltr. (Orchidaceae, subfamily Epidendroideae) in Madagascar and adjacent archipelagos is revised. It comprises the two genera: Hederorkis Thouars, and Polystachya Hook., the latter with four sections. All of the species are described and their typification, history, identification, pollination, distribution and habitat are discussed. The circumscription and distribution of Polystachya bico...
Summary The genus Aerangis Schltr. (Orchidaceae, subfamily Epidendroideae, tribe Vandeae, subtribe Angraecinae) in Madagascar and adjacent archipelagos is revised. Twenty-seven species have been recorded from the region, all of them endemic. Twenty of these are endemic to Madagascar, three to the Comoros only, three to the Comoros and Madagascar and one to Madagascar and Réunion. A third of all Aerangis in the area were assess...
The reinvention of potato, from a tetraploid clonal crop into a diploid seed-based hybrid crop, requires insight in the mutational load, recombination landscape, and the genetic basis of fertility. Genomics-based breeding and QTL discovery rely on efficient genotyping strategies such as skim sequencing, to gather genotypic information. The application of skim sequencing to full-sib population of non-inbred parents remains chal...
Summary A new species from Madagascar, Angraecum inflatum Hermans, is described and illustrated for the first time. It is compared with similar species from section Lemurangis . A preliminary conservation assessment is provided.
Summary A new species from Madagascar, Bulbophyllum lanterna Hermans, is described and illustrated. It is compared with similar species from section Lichenophylax . A preliminary conservation assessment is provided.
New species in Orchidaceae from MadagascarNARA Subscribed
Summary Five new species from Madagascar, Aerangis bovicornu (Vandeae: Angraecinae), Angraecopsis lemurelloides (Vandeae: Angraecinae) , Didymoplexis stella-silvae (Gastrodieae), Habenaria crocodilium (Orchideae: Orchidinae) and Polystachya siederi (Vandeae: Polystachinae) are described and illustrated. A short summary of endemism and the history of description of orchids of Madagascar are given.
Summary Six new species: Bulbophyllum caniceps, B. cochinealloides, B. fierenanaense, B. geminiflorum, B. oenanthum and B. rudolphus are described for the first time. The identity and nomenclature of Bulbophyllum cylindrocarpum is discussed and its var. andringitrense is recognised at species rank as B. jeanbosseri . Bulbophyllum aubrevillei and B. kieneri are compared with the latter becoming a synonym. The history and identi...
Aquaculture net cage inspection and maintenance is a central issue in fish farming. Inspection using autonomous underwater vehicles is a promising solution. This paper proposes laser-camera triangulation for pose estimation to enable autonomous net following for an autonomous vehicle. The laser triangulation 3D data is experimentally compared to a doppler velocity log (DVL) in an active fish farm. We show that our system is co...
Key message Two novel major effect loci ( Sen4 and Sen5 ) and several minor effect QTLs for potato wart disease resistance have been mapped. The importance of minor effect loci to bring full resistance to wart disease was investigated. Using the newly identified and known wart disease resistances, a panel of potato breeding germplasm and Solanum wild species was screened. This provided a state-of-the-art “hitch-hikers-guide” o...
New species and nomenclatural changes in Cynorkis (Orchidaceae) from Madagascar, the Comoros and the MascarenesNARA Subscribed
Summary Four new species, Cynorkis kiehnii, C. marianneae, C. marmorata and C. murex, are described for the first time. Cynorkis frappieri and C. raymondiana are compared, with the latter reduced to a synonym of the former . Cynorkis gaesiformis, C. galeata, C. nutans and C. stenoglossa are compared and considered one variable species, with the name C. nutans having priority. Additional information is provided about C. mammuth...
Summary Three new species: Angraecum archangelicum, A. polyphemus and A. rotundifolium are described for the first time. Pectinariella is evaluated; a case is made to keep it at subgeneric level and the necessary two new combinations are made. Angraecum dasycarpum is neotypified. Finally A. ochraceum and A. setipes are compared with the latter being reduced to a synonym of the former.

Summary. The tribe Malaxideae (Orchidaceae, subfamily Epidendroideae) ( sensu Pridgeon et al . 2005: 453) in Madagascar and adjacent archipelagos is revised. In this region it comprises the four genera: Liparis, Malaxis, Oberonia and Stichorkis . All of the species are described and their typification, history, identification, distribution and habitat are discussed. Conservation assessments and distribution maps are included....
