Seal haulout behavior is of interest in relation to energetics and abundance estimation. To assess year‐round and diel haulout patterns and estimate correction factors, data were obtained from 100 seals (66 harbor and 34 gray seals) tagged with satellite transmitters in Kattegat and the western Baltic Sea during 2004–2017. Kattegat harbor seals had highest haulout probability during the night throughout the year, except for ad...

Intranasal administration of drugs possesses numerous advantages such as easy and direct application, rapid onset of action and reduced risk of systemic adverse effects. The nasal cavity consists of several regions and especially the respiratory region, known as the turbinates, is considered favorable for drug uptake. Current Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines for in vitro testing of nasal spray formulations recomme...

Polymer coating of nanoparticulate drug delivery systems may enhance the efficacy of oral delivery. Cationic liposomes were coated with pectin biopolymers using microfluidics, with systematic variation of process parameters to optimize pectin-coated liposome fabrication. A pectin/liposome weight ratio of 0.7 and a microfluidic flow rate ratio of 2:1 pectin:liposome were found to be optimal. The resulting formulations displayed...

Scleractinian coral populations are increasingly exposed to conditions above their upper thermal limits due to marine heatwaves, contributing to global declines of coral reef ecosystem health. However, historic mass bleaching events indicate there is considerable inter‐ and intra‐specific variation in thermal tolerance whereby species, individual coral colonies and populations show differential susceptibility to exposure to el...
