The first Mesozoic scorpion from Italy, Protobuthus ziliolii sp. nov., is here described and named thanks to a single specimen. This new species comes from the Besano Formation (Middle Triassic) of Monte San Giorgio, a UNESCO World Heritage Locality (WHL).
