Elucidating the Immunological Basis of Large Yellow Croaker Larimichthys crocea Offers New Strategies for Its Disease ManagementNARA Subscribed
Large yellow croaker Larimichthys crocea is a major mariculture species in China, achieving an annual yield of 292,615 tons by 2024. Commercial production faces considerable challenges from disease outbreaks, necessitating comprehensive immune mechanism research. Through comprehensive genomic and transcriptomic investigations, scientists have identified distinguishing characteristics within the L. crocea immune system, encompa...
Visceral white nodules disease (VWND), caused by Pseudomonas plecoglossicida, is a common disease among cage-farmed large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) in China. However, comprehensive investigations of the molecular defensive mechanisms used by L. crocea in response to P. plecoglossicida infection remain relatively rare. Here, we constructed transcriptomes of the L. crocea spleen at 12 h and 24 h after P. plecoglossici...
Molecular and functional identification of a β‐defensin homolog in large yellow croaker ( Larimichthys crocea )NARA Subscribed
β‐defensin (BD) is a cysteine‐rich cationic antibacterial peptide that is active against a wide range of bacteria. Here, a β‐defensin homolog ( Lc BD2) was identified in large yellow croaker ( Larimichthys crocea ). The open reading frame of Lc BD2 contains 195 nucleotides, encoding a protein of 64 amino acids that possesses a typical arrangement of six conserved cysteine residues (C 31 , C 37 , C 41 , C 53 , C 59 and C 60 )....
