Due to the recent unprecedented global rise of Candidozyma auris in hospital environments the members of the Candidozyma haemuli species complex have raised significant interest of clinicians and researchers. Until the finding of C. auris , the species complex did not receive much attention as the known pathogenic species were only rarely encountered in hospitals and clinical diagnostic laboratories. During the past years seve...
Novel high-yield potato protease inhibitor panels block a wide array of proteases involved in viral infection and crucial tissue damageNARA Subscribed
Viruses critically rely on various proteases to ensure host cell entry and replication. In response to viral infection, the host will induce acute tissue inflammation pulled by granulocytes. Upon hyperactivation, neutrophil granulocytes may cause undue tissue damage through proteolytic degradation of the extracellular matrix. Here, we assess the potential of protease inhibitors (PI) derived from potatoes in inhibiting viral in...
Complete Genome Sequence of the Itraconazole Decreased Susceptible Madurella fahalii Type-Strain CBS 129176NARA Subscribed
Madurella fahalii is a causative agent of the implantation mycosis mycetoma with decreased susceptibility to itraconazole, the preferred therapeutic drug to combat mycetoma. Here, we report the M. fahalii type-strain CBS 129176 genome assembly and annotation to identify a glutamic acid insert near the azole-binding pocket in the Cyp51A protein.
Ochroconis globalis infecting Atlantic salmon ( Salmo salar ), with a review of Ochroconis species in cold‐blooded animalsNARA Subscribed
Necropsy examination of an adult Atlantic salmon ( Salmo salar ) from the Dalälven River in Sweden revealed numerous large, white nodules, with spherical cysts and granulomata in kidney and liver. Histopathology showed dark, septate, thin‐walled hyphae. The aetiologic agent was found to be an Ochroconis species ( Venturiales ) that differed from known fish‐associated species of the genus. Molecular phylogenetic studies of the...
